May 2011. Colombiamoda, “Colombia Fashion Week,” organized by the National Institute for Exports and Fashion, Inexmoda, is one of the most important fashion platforms in Latin America. This year, Colombiamoda will be held from July 26th to the 28th at Plaza Mayor in Medellin, under the motto “Fashion Consciousness” where new spaces will be woven for designers, investors, consumers, and visitors.
In this 22nd version, Colombiamoda’s runways will be filled with unreleased trends, with the presence of important Colombian designers such as: Olga Piedrahita, Pepa Pombo by Monica Holguin, Amelia Toro, Maria Luisa Ortiz, Beatriz Camacho, Lina Cantillo, Jorge Duque, Camilo Alvarez, Amulette, Agua Bendita, Pink Filosofy and SilviAlfonzo, among others. Academia will be represented by Chocolyne Young Creators – Colombian School and the Fashion Design Program from the Fundacion Universitaria del Area Andina. Likewise, we shall see the proposals of new talents accompanied by Fucsia and Infashion magazines, El Tiempo newspaper, and the entrepreneurship program from the Mayor’s Office of Medellin, Culture E. Commercial participation, along with unreleased collections, will be by Studio F, Cueros Velez, Magazine El Tesoro, Women Secret, and Leonisa, among others.
International guests include Italian design duo, Juan Caro and Fabio Sasso of Leitmotiv, both active and in demand by international runways for their innovative association between fashion-art and outstanding product architecture.
Likewise, Brazilian-Japanese Akihito Hira, avant-garde designer with a strong identity, will present his Spring-Summer 2012 collection.
2011 sees the return of Designers by Vogue, an important window for designers releasing creations to entrepreneurs and investors from other countries exhibiting their collections to break boundaries. This space is possible thanks to the successful alliance between Inexmoda and Vogue, and for several months Inexmoda has been working with Proexport to offer an ideal and valuable space for these designers.
The Fashion Forum, managed by Inexmoda’s Fashion Laboratory, also making an appearance at the trade show, will present the four attitudes of the Fall-Winter 2012 season, which will be supported by the exhibitor’s exhibit of finished products, and as a complement to these activities, conferences will be held for visitors.
Aside from being an important and well-known fashion tradeshow, Colombiamoda is an excellent business platform: for this year, we estimate the participation of 450 exhibitors, more than 1,600 international buyers, and business opportunities amounting to US$80 million. Thanks to the support of the Mayor’s Office of Medellin and Proexport, Colombiamoda will continue positioning itself as the Fashion Week in Colombia and the most important business scene of the Fashion System in the country, as well as the Latin American event with the most international buyers, showing the importance of this tradeshow for the fashion business in the region.
One of the main novelties brought by Colombiamoda 2011 will be the New Business Model Pavilion, a space created for this edition to respond to the internationalization process of fashion brands, where investors will have the opportunity to find well-known brands in the same place with which they can explore the possibility of carrying out alliances, joint ventures, or to invest under the franchise model, guaranteeing greater success and smaller business risk. This pavilion is held in alliance with MasFranquicias.
Thanks to its success in Colombiamoda 2010, the second version of the National Entrepreneurship Conference will be held on July 27th and 28th, which is organized by the Medellin City Cluster program of the Medellin Mayor’s Office and the Medellin Chamber of Commerce for Antioquia, along with Inexmoda. At this event, with the participation of all exhibitors, we expect to surpass the 326 meetings and business for US$2,800,000 recorded at the previous edition.
Through an alliance with Universidad Ponticificia Bolivariana, UPB, Colombiamoda will have the Knowledge Pavilion, an educational space which will include 27 conferences by fashion analysts and experts from around the globe on the subject: Fashion Consciousness.
