January 2012. A positive impact to Medellin’s economy has brought Colombiatex 2012, with a 75,8% of the hotel occupation before the official opening, 2,6% more than last year, highlighting the hotels from The Poblado zone with 86,4% of occupation. The tradeshow has also been successful with 8.011 visitors during the first day. 1.100 of those foreigners, 532 invited by Proexport.
The foreign visitors are basically from Germany, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, South Korea, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, United Arab Emirates, Spain, United States, French, Guatemala, Holland, Honduras, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Lebanon, Mexico, Norway, Pakistan, Panama, Peru, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Check Republic, Dominica Republic, Singapore, Switzerland, Taiwan, Turkey, Uruguay and Venezuela.
Colombiatex is the most important showcase of the Fashion System in Latin America, an opportunity for business. This year the tradeshow is expecting business for US$ 119 million.
