- 23 lectures by national and international fashion experts at Medellin´s Metropolitan Theatre.
January 2012. The French designer Francoise Girbaud, owner of the brand MARITHÉ + FRANCOISE GIRBAUD took the attention of the public during his lecture “Innovation and technology applied to the Jeanswear universe” at the first day of the Knowledge Pavilion Inexmoda- UPB.
Girbaud made a strong call to all those who work on the fashion industry to start implementing environmentally friendly process, and talked about his last 20 years of working toward the innovation and his fight against the indiscriminate use of chemical and non-renewable natural resources like water in the processing of jeans.
The common wear process uses around 70 liters of water, while thousands of millions in the world does not have access to clean water. The chemical products used in this process also threaten workers health, making them vulnerable to respiratory disease.
Girbuad, in a partnership with the Spanish company Jeanología, presented the last technologies used in the Jeanswear process. The GFK Laser and G2 is an ecofriendly machine which have changed the Jeanswear process. “There are other ways to get fashion with the less impact in the environment”, said the designer.
Francois Girbaud highlights the fact that Colombian companies are now applying those new technologies. “During the last years people has gotten more conscious about the Planet, because the natural resources are getting extinguished.”
